Friendly, personal and effective

Classroom training, or 'instructor-led training', still remains the most effective means of transferring knowledge. This is because it allows for almost any type of training product to be utilised, from hands-on practicals and group exercises to individual prescriptive-teaching methods.

It also allows for instant, real-time feedback, so questions can be quickly answered, sessions can be manipulated by the instructor (to change the learning pace), and the learning environment can be altered to address the needs of all students present.

Whether it is the delivery of an existing training course that you require, or the design and authoring of a custom course, AT3D can provide years of classroom training experience that will ensure your course is a resounding success.

Previous course styles delivered by AT3D include:

  • Traditional classroom format utilising dynamic content to engage learners and embrace different learning styles
  • Interactive workshops with different learning stations and instructional areas
  • Scenario-based outdoor training exercies utilising role-play, to educate equipment use, response techniques and scene management
  • 'Conference-style' demonstrations with the opportunity for learners to practice and ask questions afterwards
  • Virtual courses utilising video-conferencing tools

The learning continues as the course ends

Classroom training courses should always be one piece of the training puzzle. Yes - they are probably the largest piece, but they should be supplemented with one or more of the following products:

  • Student workbooks
A manual for the student to take away which contains all reference material covered in the course.

  • A 'resources' Intranet website
Somewhere students can go after the course to access help documents, user guides, corporate messages, cue-cards and student blogs.

  • A 'sandpit' environment
An interactive e-learning environment where students can:
    • 'Play around' with the software they have learned to keep their skills fresh
    • Watch additional scenario videos for skills and techniques they have learned

  • Additional workshops
Dates where students can attend a short workshop to practice the skills they have learned.

  • Context-sensitive help
In the case of IT training courses, the software being trained will greatly benefit from some context-sensitive help - a question-mark button within the app that, whenever clicked, offers help directly related to the screen the user is looking at.

  • Floorwalkers/mentoring
A trainer or team of trainers that walk around an office for a period of time after a new piece of software had been launced, to assist in getting users 'up-to-speed'.
